Itsy bitsy haul

I nipped in town today to get another copy of my birth certificate as I have lost mine :( And somehow got distracted by shops :O
I had a £5.50 clubcard coupon for Tesco so decided to get a few things I needed/wanted. This morning the postman also left me a package I have been looking forward to for ages, NYX lippies!
So today I bought NYC Nail Polish in Madison Avenue, this is such a gorgeous bright red/pink with a lovely pearl finish. Love he formula and am definitely going to get more!
In Tesco i picked up the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser because my lips have been really dry recently and nothing has helped them and a travel size baby shampoo for washing my make-up brushes. I then gravitated towards the make-up and picked up Wet n Wild Mega glow, I think most big Tesco's sell Wet n Wild, but I've wanted to try this for a while and as it states it just leaves you with a glow on your cheeks.

On to a small rant. On the 14th August I ordered two NYX lipsticks(Black Label in India and Round Lipstick in Indian pink, both really nice colours) from Mscuppycakes.com. I have only just received them this morning, that's almost a month I have been waiting on them. I know it's from America so I wasn't exactly expecting it in a week but I have ordered from the US and even Asia before and it hasn't take much longer than just over two weeks. I was even told it would be about 8-10 days, this clearly didn't happen.

India on top, then Indian Pink then Blistex Intensive Moisture
Anyway I am happy they are finally here and I am quite pleased with my unexpected haul today :)

Boots Botanics Sensitive Cleansing Mousse Review

Price - £3.91

What it says - "Botanics Sensitive Cleansing Mousse is a gentle, soap free wash, which sweeps away impurities and make-up without overdrying. Leaving skin looking healthy and radiant."

What I think - This is the latest addition in my quest to find a good cleanser for my skin, previous to this I was using a Witch Foaming Face wash which I liked but I'm not such a fan of this. It claims to not be overdrying but I find that if I don't put on my moisturiser within 5 minutes of washing my face my skin feels very tight and dry, which doesn't help since I already have dry enough skin as it is! However it does leave my face feeling quite soft and smooth.
It has very natural smell which most Botanics have which is quite pleasent. Whilst using this I have found that I need atleast 3 or 4 pumps to get enough to thoroughly cleanse my face, this isn't very economical as I've only used this for about 3 weeks and I'm almost done. So the search is on for my next cleanser! Any recommendations?

I would recommend this cleanser for those with more oily skin as it can be drying, although if you want a foaming face wash check out the Witch foaming cleanser I prefer that.

I love this song

:D
Ironically I love Mario Kart :)

This weeks buys!

So even though I don't have money I found an excuse to go shopping, my friend gave me her No7 £5 voucher :) Therefore I just HAD to nip into town and get something!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I ended coming away with more than one thing :S
I first purchased Company as I have not been able to find this, got it at Tesco though. This month you get a free unnamed double ended mascara, I'm very cautious of free unbranded make up with magazines as they usually turn out to be rubbish. However this seems to work quite nicely, it pretty much does the same as Lash Stiletto does for my lashes.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The base end is a metallic silver colour, I didn't really notice this doing anything major but the end result with the black coat over it wasn't as horrible as expected.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As from the pictures the two brushes are different shape. The mascara being a tapered brush.
Next I went to boots and could not help myself when it came to the new Maybelline lipsticks! I bought 112 Ambre Rose which I heard about from lollipop26
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is such a lovely wearable shimmery pink colour with, what I would say, a tiny bit of coral in there too.
I then made my way to the No7 counter to get a nail polish, I tend to get these when I have the vouchers because it works out at £1.25!I bought Sugar Syrup, a very opaque pale pink when applied. After these purchases I got another voucher so I decided I needed another nail polish in Highland Mist, a lovely redish nude brown, really unique colour that's quite hard to describe.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
(L)Highland Mist (R) Sugar Syrup
My last stop was Superdrug, not expecting to buy anything just for a wander. I came across the St. Ives section to see that there was money off some of the products as new packaging is replacing the current one.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I bought the invigorating scrub for all skin types, with the money off it worked out as £2.70. I have tried this out and will be doing a full review later on.
So there we have it!
Any good beauty buys this week?

In and Out

Haven't done one of these in a while so here goes!

IN
- Haggis, Neeps and Tatties!
Seriously does life get any better than that? Ok so it's nothing to do with make up but its damn tasty!
- Eyeshadow combos
Trying out different eyeshadow combination's each gets my creativity going! My favourite eyeshadow right now is Urban Decays Scratch.
- Autumn
Ok I love summer and the whole sunshine but I loveeee wrapping up in my hat and scarf and can't wait to buy new winter boots...I'm thinking short pixie style boots?
- MAC Paint Pots I don't use UDPP or Too Faced SI because they make my lids feel quite greasy and with the paint pots you get colour, sometimes I just sweep Rubenesque all over and I'm done.

Out
- Scottish weather!
Seriously, I was in Tesco yesterday and you could hear the heavy rain on the roof. My feet got soaked in a big puddle walking back to the car:(
- My weight
I'm determined to lose weight! I've always said "Yeh I'll start healthy eating soon" but I'm actually doing it, along with my dvd I do every morning. I really hope I can get down to a size 12 buy November maybe? Slow and steady wins the race!
- Not having money
I'm actually looking forward to going back to uni because I'll be getting my SAAS again! And ofcourse seeing my friends, they live quite a bit away from me.

Anything getting on your goat these days?

Product of the week :)

So for the past week I've noticed that I have been using the same things over and over when applying my make up and decided it should be the product of the week!
This weeks award goes to: Odd Bits MES!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Now this is a bit controversial as many other reviews have stated the poor pigmentation of this quad. Ok, so it's not the best but I still really enjoy using these colours as I don't have colours like these in my collection.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The light pink seems to have the worst pigmentation, however using this in the inner corner of the eye makes my eyes shine!
The deep purple is a really lovely colour all over the eye. A few days ago I used the pink and purple over red velvet shadestick (which is a lovely pink base to use with purples) with the purple all over and the pink on the inner corner and achieved a lovely look.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
L-R: Bronze, Purple, Light grey/blue and the light pink
The blue/grey is very light but makes for a nice wash of colour if your in a rush. The bronze can be quite chunky and glittery and probably my least used colour out og the lot but a nice colour all the same.

I will start doing this weekly with a product I feel I've used a lot within that week.
Hope you enjoyed xx

...And now for something completely different.

I love Monty Python, hense the title. But anyways I just wanted to share something with the community. Animals :)
More specifically the animals in my life:)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
These are my cats! Sophie is on the left and Sam is the right. I've had Sam for about 8 years I think, he was a stray cat found on our street so we took him in. Sophie we've had for about 5 or 6 years, she was advertised in the local paper as needing a new home and it as love at first sight! She's my cat and loves sleeping on my lap as shown here.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The next important animal is my boyfriends dog Katy :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Katy is about 10 if I'm correct, she's a border collie and the cutest dog ever!(I'm biased though!)
I've been going out with my boyfriend for almost 3 years (September 1st is our 3 year anniversary) and whenever I go to his house the first thing Katy does is go find a toy to give me to play with her! She likes her toys!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The next animal is my aunt and uncles' dog Skimble :)
Look how happy he looks!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm half Irish on my dads side and this is my dads sisters dog, so as they all live in Ireland I can't see them that often. However in June I visited my family for two weeks which was fantastic, I visit probably about twice a year...I love my heritage :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Last but not least is Hamish:) Little Hamish is my mums "manfriends" (it feels wrong saying boyfriend at that age lol) dog
He's really old but he still likes to chase the cats :)

And so that's it, just thought I would share one of my many loves in life!
A way of getting to know me :)

Hair History...

I always find these posts interesting so thought I would do one :)
The earliest picture I could find was from 4th or 5th year in high school (age about 15)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is my natural hair colour, mousey brown/dirty blonde. Sadly by about 12 all my peroxide locks had grown out :( I hated my hair this colour!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Moving on about a year I left my hair curly a lot which is my natural hair and it was getting quite long.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I then started to get a block fringe cut in and dyeing my hair an auburny red. I liked it like this.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Naturally I got bored of my fringe and grew it out, my hair getting even longer!
Image and video hosting by TinyPicThen about a year after that I got my fringe back in and my hairdresser used the wrong colour on my hair, it went almost black. It was actually quite nice with my pale complexion. Got a few inches cut off it aswell.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I then proceeded to grow out my fringe yet again! My hair not being cut for a while got quite a bit longer.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Until my 18th birthday last year where my hair has been at its longest since I was about 12, it was sooo hard to manage at this length and took me about an hour to blow dry and style.
My hair continued to be about this length until I got my hair cut shoulder length at the start of July this year, I really love the lower maintenance of this hair and now only takes me half an hour to blow dry and style! (My hair is quite thick)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I am now getting bored of my fringe again so am growing it out :)
xx

Favourite 3 nail polishes...

My nail polish collection isn't the biggest ever but I'm pleased that it's growing. So here goes the 3 that I like the best.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
L-R: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, Barry M Nail Pain in Raspberry and Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Button Moon.

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark - This is the perfect dark nail/winter colour. It almost looks black but then in some lights it's a lovely deep plummy purple. My only OPI nail polish.

Barry M Raspberry - For me this my perfect shade of red. It slightly darker and has a pinkier tone than just red. In fact this is my all time favourite colour for both fingers and toes. Everyone raves about the formulation of barry m nail paints and it's true!

Collection 2000 Button Moon - I've only just recently bought this when buying the colour Dynasty recommended by Holly at The Yummy Mummy Beauty Blog, which I'm sure many others have done also. I decided on this colour not only for the name (My most favourite ever show was button moon!) but because it looks similar to mint green by barry m and I don't have it. Love these polishes.

Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum

So I was bored and thought I'd check out what's on the bbc iplayer. Young Dumb and living off mum sounded interesting, but ten minutes in I am shocked at these "adults"! A 25 year old man still living off his parents because he can't be bothered to get a job? They pay for his flat! I especially found it funny that one of the 18 year olds couldn't even heat up beans! These kind of shows are so funny to watch and in some ways make me feel better about myself lol. Anyway just thought this show was funny and deserved a mention!
Does any else watch this or shows like these?

Bad Reaction...

...to the James Brown London hair mask:(
I used it the other night, left it on for about 10 minutes for a good conditioning then rinsed. All was well until the next day when I was suddenly having a really itchy scalp in places, this continued the next day until it was getting quite sore! I was worried my dandruff was back because I used to have really bad dandruff for a few years. When I washed my hair today using my usual conditioner (tresemme 24 hr body for reference) the itching calmed down and felt much better! I will not be using the hair mask again, I really wanted to like this as I don't have any hair masks:( oh well, the search continues!

Over the past few weeks...

..I have bought a few things :) okay so it's nothing spectacular but i'm happy with it. I know what I like to read, and I like to read hauls.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
So left to right I have got Soap&Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel, Clean&Clear Advantage Quick Clear Spot Treatment Gel, Barry M Lip Gloss, Natural Collection Lipstick and Garnier Pure Long Lasting Shine Control Moisturiser.
So lets start with soap&glory, I love their products and have used and repurchased the shower cream and body butters a few times because they smell amazing! And this is no exception.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I love the vintage style packaging they use, I'm hestitant to throw out the box :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
One of the main ingredients in this face mask is white clay so you can imagine it's quite a thick consistency. It has little green beads, which when you apply the mask, dissolve and smell kind of minty. I've used this twice already and can safely say I really like it. It leaves my face feeling lovely and soft, especially around the nose area as my pores are quite big there. With the current 1/3 off all soap & glory products in Boots this was about £3, which is rather good I have to say :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I have never had spot prone skin apart from the odd massive white head on my chin or on the tip of my nose (nice eh?) but I have had a few spots of recent so I thought I'd try this out. Don't really have much to say about this, yes my spots are less visible but I can't decide if it's the product or just natural.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
WOW! That's what I have to say, this stuff smells absolutely amazing! The colour is in 6 Tropical Tango, it smells of sweets! I have to admit I did buy this colour purely for the amazing smell, however over a nude lipstick it does look lovely. A warning: You need a mirror to avoid orange overload with this lipgloss. Pigmentation is fantastic!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For under £2 this isn't that bad. This is Natural Collection Moisture Shine lipstick in Apple Blossom. I've heard some good reviews anout this lipstick and for the price I thought I'd try it. I have to say it's quite a nice lipstick, lovely colour. Compared to my GOSH Darling it's more pinky and less glossy but a very nice day to day colour.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This moisturiser is a repurchase. I love this and think it is possibly my HG moisturiser. I finished my first tube a few months ago and have deviated from buying another to see if there was anything better but others I have tried (Johnsons, Ponds etc) they just don't sink in as well plus they leave me with a greasy feeling all day. This however sinks in almost instantly and leaves me with a matt, silky face ready for make up. I might do a full review of this later.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Last but not least a freebie with this months Marie Claire! A James Brown London Intensive Mask for Hair, I haven't used this but am planning on doing so tonight. Looing forward to it :)
So yeh, anything you want info one just ask xxx

Late night blog

Mood:Fresh and content

What’s one of your strengths?: This strength can also be one of my shortfalls. I'm very good with time management and am always paranoid of being late for something. eg. Going for a flight and check in opens at 2, I get worried that I arrive at quarter past :| it closes at like half 3. I used to be really bad in the first semester of uni were I would want to be at a lecture for 15 mins before, my friends have calmed me down somewhat now.

What’s your favorite flower?: Tulips, especially the yellow ones

What’s one tip/trick you use to keep your makeup organized? It's not organised at all, my make up has no home :(

Eyes/lips/cheeks: Zilch. Nada. Zero...lazy day

Do your pets have nicknames? If yes, what are they? Well sophie is just sophie and sam is sometimes sambo

What are your favourite TV shows? Ugly betty, panel comedy shows, Hollyoaks, anything with gok wan!

Would you date a guy with abnormally hairy ears? If i actually liked him then yeh, just discretly buy him a hair trimmer

Outfit: My boyfriends tshirt and boxers..basically my pj's

Weekly goals: Start my healthy living routine and excercise more...and hopefully get a job

Help...

Since the UK MAC website has started selling pro pans and palettes I decided it would be a good time to depot my current ones and but a pro pan to make up a quad (I rather quads so that I can instantly get a combination of good shadows) So my question to anyone out there is what would make a nice combination with satin taupe? Such as a highlight or nice colour to go with it? Any suggestions welcome:)

Products I regret buying...

So I thought I would do a little post about things I would recommend you not to buy...

1. E.L.F Candy shop lipgloss in Candy fix - For those of you that are unaware of elf, its eyes lips face, a website where pretty much all the products are £1.50. So a while ago I went on and bought a few things including nail polish (not bad), all over colour stick (really like), shimmering facial whip(also like) along with this candy shop thing. Now this comes in different flavours such as coconut, frosting and cherry etc...however the candy one, to my dismay, did not smell like candy, it smelt more like my cat after it's been in the rain. In a nutshell, it's awful, maybe I got a bad one but it's awfulll. I would not recommend.

2.Lee Stafford "Wonder webb" - This product is a good concept, its a gel-like white substance and when you rub it between your hands and pull them apart it goes all webby, yeh webby.
It's supposed to give texture and light hold, however it really did nothing to my hair whatsoever. The only good thing about this is that it didn't leave my hair feeling sticky or dirty.

3.No.7 Perfect light Pressed Powder - I bought this because I just needed a powder to go over my foundation at places to make it less shiny, but it just left my face look powdery and cakey - not a good look. So now I just use this for the mirror in the compact :)

From ranting to raving. A while ago I watched a few videos on youtube about making your own lipgloss by using vaseline and mineral powder blushes. I tried this out the other night however added a few extras such as some barry m dazzle dust in coral and gold irredesence (which give a really nice effect) and came out with two different colours - one is more pinky and shiny, the other slighty mauve in appereance. So yeh, I think everyone should try this!

On that note, I'll leave you with a picture of my cat Sophie :)

What I'm using.....

So I thought I'd give this a go ;)

Hair

Shampoo: Head and Shoulders Colour Care, I wish I could try other colour care products but as soon as I stop using H & S I get awful dandruff again :(

Conditioner: Aussie 3 minute miracle Frizz care

Styling products: CHI silk infusion, Aussie curl treatment, Lee Stafford day after spray (personally I don't notice any difference with my hair)

Hair mask: I'm currently on the search for a good mask, I've heard the Tre semme one is good?

Body

Shower gel: Soap and Glory "clean on me", very creamy and nice smelling

Body moisturiser: Body Shope body butter, papaya, strawberry, pink grapefruit etc:)

Deodarant - Sure

Fake tan: Dove gradual tan (tip: if your pale like me but want a little more of colour straight away than you normally would with the pale version, just get the medium/dark version)

Cleanser: Witch foaming face wash

Eye makeup remover: Johnson's Baby oil....of course!

Exfoliator - Garnier three in one cleanser, exfoliater and mask. Although it does leave my face quite dry

Makeup

Primer: Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Radiance serum...don't think it's supposed to be a primer but i put this on with my moisturiser before make up

Foundation: Revlon colourstay/ Missha Perfect Cover bb cream - it's amazing and smells wonderfullll...i'll do a review

Foundation brush: I have the mac 187 but i find that my fingers work best cos it makes me look like i've not got no make up on.

Concealer: Barbara Daily for tesco make up concealer, although it's looking a bit too yellow for me just now

Powder: Don't really use one but if I do it's bare minerals

Blusher: No.7 mineral blush in soft damson, but I'm liking cream blushers as my skin is really dry just now. I'm using ELF colour stick in pink lemonade, I really like it

Bronzer: I don't use one

Highlighter: Benefit high beam, love it

Eyeshadow base: I either use my small size UDPP (which I don't like, it actually MAKES my eyelids feel oily) or my paint pot in rubanesque, lovely

Eyeshadows: I love the three browny shades in urban decay deluxe pallette, it's nice paring them with one of the bright colours like fishnet on the lower lashline.

Eyeliner: MAC fluidline blacktrack

Eyelash curler: Just a normal silver one that I stole from my mum :)

Eyelash base: None

Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal, makes my lashes look longgg

No essays in uni - I am seriously loving that I don't have to worry about any essays this week. Just got my exams to worry about, 5 weeks!

My growing nail polish collection - I have so many now that I' m at the point where I can't decide what one to where!

My cat - She's suddenly become so affectionate and just sits on my lap as soon as I sit down, she's so cute.

Special K Bliss - It actually tastes amazing!

Out:

No money - I'm surviving on nothing :( all because of being in Glasgow everyday and all the pretty shops!

Exams - The impending doom of exams in May does not excite me.

Cat hairs - Yes she's affectionate but she casts hairs like there's no tomorrow!

Introduction...

So lets start with the introdcutions shall we?
Well I'm Gillian and I hail from the west of Scotland.
I'm 18 and enjoy the basic things along with clothes and make up.
I will basically be following in the footsteps of many random bloggers, mainly on the make up and clothes side though.

I'm new to this so go easy on me :)
